Established in 1931 ATM, Azienda Trasporti Milanesi, is a public limited company belonging to the city of Milan. ATM runs the public transport system in the Lombardy capital and in 72 small towns within the province, covering a catchment area of 2.6 million inhabitants.
Aims
To design and manage technologically advanced systems and services for sustainable transport: this is the challenge that the company in Milan has set itself. And how can it achieve it? Solution
ATM teamed up with MagNews to set up an automated mailing system to send informative profiled e-mails to its subscribers. ATM Alert is a service which sends ATM customers traffic news about their particular lines directly to their e-mail address.
Results
ATM travellers receive highly personalised information which, thanks to automated technology, strengthens the company's relationship with its customers, as well as measuring the level of interest in their services. And the figures recorded since 2006 are proof of this: the number of people subscribing to the service has grown continuously, an even greater achievement given that the catchment area is limited to the province of Milan.
